The Singapore Population Oral Health Symposium was recently organised by the National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS), that saw a gathering of thought leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers.
Prior to the conference, NDCS and University of Hong Kong (HKU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership to advance collaboration in oral health research, education and innovation. HKU is the second-ranked university in the world for Dentistry (QS World University Rankings 2026). With both Asian cities facing similar healthcare challenges, including rapidly ageing populations, the partnership will create new opportunities and strengthen oral health capabilities for both institutions.
The MoU will focus on strengthening exchanges among faculty, trainees and students, to advance expertise in specialist and postgraduate education; Fostering closer partnerships in research between people and these include collaborative studies, research exchanges and co supervision of PhD candidate; and leveraging expertise to advance innovation especially in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and the development of new technologies for oral healthcare.
Over the years, dental professionals from Singapore have undertaken specialist training in Hong Kong, particularly in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Both institutions have collaborated in postgraduate education, PhD training and research supervision.
