Cryoport’s IntegriCell cryopreservation services have been selected by Verismo Therapeutics to support the company’s clinical KIR-CAR T cell therapy programmes.
The agreement covers Verismo’s lead candidates SynKIR-110 and SynKIR-310. SynKIR-110 is being evaluated in the STAR-101 Phase I trial in patients with advanced mesothelin-expressing solid tumours, while SynKIR-310 is being evaluated in the CELESTIAL-301 Phase I trial in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
This is relevant because cell therapy development depends heavily on process control, cryopreservation consistency and supply chain reliability. Even when a therapy has a promising biological mechanism, variability in starting material, freezing, storage, transport or handling can affect manufacturing efficiency and clinical execution.
IntegriCell will provide process development, technology transfer and clinical cryopreservation services. Cryoport said it has implemented Verismo’s existing proprietary cryopreservation process within its GMP-compliant quality management system, allowing the company to preserve prior regulatory work while improving process control and scalability.
Verismo’s KIR-CAR platform is designed around a modified natural killer cell-derived receptor and DAP12 pairing. The approach is intended to improve T cell functional persistence and reduce exhaustion, which are major challenges in CAR-T development, especially for solid tumours.
The company is developing SynKIR-110 for advanced solid tumours and SynKIR-310 for B-cell associated disorders and malignancies. Both candidates are already in human clinical trials, with initial Phase I data presented at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting 2026.
The manufacturing and logistics element is important because cell therapy programmes often face bottlenecks as they move from early clinical studies toward larger trials and commercial readiness. Developers need systems that can support standardised leukapheresis material, GMP processes, biostorage, temperature-controlled logistics and traceability.
Cryoport’s IntegriCell service centres are located in Houston, Texas and Liège, Belgium, giving the company geographic coverage across the Americas and Europe. These capabilities are integrated with Cryoport Systems’ broader platform spanning BioLogistics, biostorage, informatics and cryogenic systems.
The agreement also reflects the growing specialisation of cell and gene therapy infrastructure. As more advanced therapies enter clinical development, companies are increasingly outsourcing critical process and logistics functions to partners with dedicated cold-chain, cryopreservation and regulatory compliance capabilities.
