Singapore unveils talent development strategy to boost Healthtech and Biotech ecosystem

SGInnovate to connect talent and Deep Tech companies tackling demand and supply-side issues in Singapore's biotech ecosystem

SGInnovate, a Deep Tech ecosystem builder and investor backed by the Singapore government, has launched Deep Tech Talent Central (DTTC), an integrated strategy for solving talent challenges across emerging tech sectors. In additon, it has launched Helix Immersion Programme, an industry training programme for academic and research professionals in the biotech sector. 

Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister launched the programme along with Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies, and SGInnovate's partners from across the Deep Tech community.

Considering Singapore’s RIE2025 initiative, SGInnovate's Helix Immersion Programme will support Singapore's growing biomedical and biotech companies. Biomedical researchers and academic professionals will gain experience in both lab and non-lab settings at fast-growing companies through this one-year on-the-job training program.

With DTTC, organisations and talent can streamline their interactions to resolve demand- and supply-side issues in two major areas - "training and community building" and "building the Deep Tech job market". DTTC is Singapore’s first and only one-stop talent gateway for the emerging tech ecosystem.

By creating curated training programmes, DTTC aims to facilitate domain-specific, open access sharing with experts and industry leaders, as well as addressing prevailing skills gaps. Eventually, DTTC collects data to offer insights into trends and the movement of talent. 

SGInnovate will amplify DTTC's efforts by involving government agencies such as ESG, EDB and A*STAR, as well as various VCs, IHLs, corporates, consultancies, and startups into the DTTC platform.

The specialised work placement initiative provides candidates with exposure to commercial biomedical technology operations. In addition to training 100 HIP fellows by 2025, the programme aims to address talent gaps identified in SGInnovate's recent whitepaper, Bridging the Talent Gaps in Singapore's Biotech Sector
