BioMalaysia was held from October 21-23, 2013, in Johor, Malaysia
Johor: BioMalaysia, which is the flagship biotechnology event of Malaysia, kicked off in Johor on October 21, 2013. The three-day event focused on converging ideas and provided opportunities to scientists, researchers and biotechnology companies. The conference and exhibition witnessed participation from 160 exhibitors and more than 250 local and international conference delegates.
Malaysia is intending to develop its biomedical industry through national policies and has identified healthcare as one of the National Key Economic Areas in the upcoming biomedical industry.
Jointly organized by the Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation (BiotechCorp), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and Protemp Exhibitions, the event is supported by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Johor Biotechnology and Biodiversity Corporation (J-BioTech), Malaysian Biotechnology Information Center (MABIC), Malaysian Organization of Pharmaceutical Industries (MOPI), Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) and Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based (MOA).
Dr Mohd Nazlee, CEO, BiotechCorp, said that, "BioMalaysia provides the biotechnology players with a strategic platform to engage in this fast growing bio-based industry and a growing number of international participations at BioMalaysia signifies Malaysia's rising leadership in the region's biotechnology industry."
