The Indonesian government will boost cooperation with Japan in the area of health based on each country’s needs, such as Japan’s need to increase the number of skilled nurses.

To that end, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Puan Maharani met with LDP Policy Research Council Deputy Chairman Nishimura Yasutoshi and with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida recently in Tokyo.

As reported earlier, Japan is in dire need of nurses and caregivers from different countries in the near future.

More generally, the meeting also noted 60 years of good relations between Indonesia and Japan and reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to establishing even closer ties.

Minister Puan offered suggestions that Indonesia and Japan collaborate in the area of human development and culture, especially related to education and health, and offered Indonesian help in meeting the growing need for caregivers in Japan.
