IDSP has tracked 496 suspected Ebola cases so far
Singapore: The Indian Health Ministry has confirmed that 145 Indians from Ebola affected countries had arrived in India in the last 24 hours.
The Ministry said that all the 145 arrivals were screened at their respective airports in Mumbai (49), Delhi (53), Chennai (12), Kochi (11), Bangalore (14) and Ahmedabad (6), out of which five arrivals were confirmed to have contact history with Ebola cases in West Africa.
The details of the five passengers have been submitted to Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) for further tracking and necessary 'contact' management, the ministry said in a statement.
IDSP said that they have tracked a total of 496 cases so far based on information provided by the Airport authority of India.
Meanwhile, The Indian Medical Association conducted a meeting to educate its staff on Ebola virus, its precautions and symptoms. The Ministry said that all precautions were in place and the chances of Ebola spreading on Indian soil remained low.
