New Delhi: Ms Christine Gregoire, governor of Washington, the US, visited the headquarters of Jubilant Life Sciences at Noida, India. The integrated pharmaceuticals and life sciences company has a key relationship with the state of Washington as its US FDA approved manufacturing facility for sterile injectables and allergy therapy products is based in Spokane, Washington.

"We come here to India as the first delegation ever to visit from the state of Washington. We have already developed a wonderful partnership and we are so proud to be the home of Jubilant in Spokane, Washington," said Governor Gregoire. "By investing in our community and technical colleges, as well as our research universities, we can provide the skilled workforce that Jubilant needs to prosper, resulting in more family-wage jobs in our community."

Mr Shyam S Bhartia, chairman and managing director, and Mr Hari S Bhartia, co-chairman & managing director, said it was important for Jubilant to have strong presence in the US, the largest global pharmaceuticals market in the world. "Around 50 percent of our assets are in North America with investments of close to $ 300 million in the US, providing job opportunities to about 1,000 people. Currently, we have two US FDA approved facilities, one for sterile injectables in Spokane, Washington, and one for oral dosage formulations in Salisbury, Maryland, besides clinical research business in New Jersey. We enjoy globally recognized leadership positions as quality manufacturer and innovative solutions provider. We have a strong platform to consolidate this position for further growth thereby providing value creation opportunities for all stakeholders," said Mr Bhartia.

In Spokane, Jubilant Life Sciences operates through its subsidiary, Jubilant HollisterStier Laboratories. It has 610 employees working in this facility. The company has leadership position in the contract manufacturing of sterile injectables and allergenic extracts business in the US.

"Our operations in Spokane serve as a critical basis for our manufacturing and R&D operations in sterile injectables and allergy products. We look forward to working with the State and local officials in supporting our growth plans," said Mr Marcelo Morales, chief executive officer, Jubilant HollisterStier.
