India has contributed $12.5 million towards Ebola relief efforts
Singapore: According to a fact sheet released by the US, India is among the top five contributors for Ebola relief efforts. The top five countries are the US ($113.8); the European Union ($55.5 million), Canada ($31.9 million), the Netherlands (21 million) and India with $12.5 million.
The US Secretary of State, Mr John Kerry said that though delayed, international assistance is now pouring into West Africa. Many countries are extending financial support and medical assistance to the impoverished West African countries that are reeling under the deadly outbreak.
Mr Kerry added that other global nations must come forward and extend support to curb the menace of Ebola. According to the WHO's latest statistics, the deadly virus has claimed 3,865 people out of 8,033 infected so far.
