Singapore: The head of the Chinese pharmaceutical company Hanwei Yaoye has been arrested for allegedly helping illegal buyers obtain medicines containing cannabis.
Local drug authorities have said that the head of the company's factory, which is based in Jiangxi province, was arrested for allegedly helping illegal buyers obtain a controlled substance.
The unnamed suspect has been accused of providing false documents for illegal buyers, who then used the papers to purchase about 10,000 packages with 10 tablets per package, of a medicine containing cannabis.
"As controlled substances are continually innovated, many drug dealers try to manufacture drugs from medicines," an official with the Jiangxi Food and Drug Administration said after the arrest.
