Singapore: According to a data reported by Reuters, a total of 1,477 people have died of infectious diseases in China in last September.

The National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) said in a statement that an estimated 606,571 cases of infectious diseases were reported in mainland China  last month.

The agency said that three cases of cholera were reported in the country. Cholera was classified as Class A, the most serious category. Around 305,540 cases were reported under Class B infectious diseases that resulted in 1,450 deaths.

NHFPC pointed out that viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, dysentery, and dengue accounted for 92 percent of the cases.

Category C infectious diseases claimed 27 lives in September with foot-and-mouth disease, infectious diarrhea, and mumps reported most frequently. Along with this, dengue cases have also sky-rocketed in South China with the country reporting 31,136 cases so far.
