Singapore: e-healthcare in India will have a major share in the overall healthcare market, believe industry experts.

"Currently the overall healthcare market in India is about $150 billion. But the way internet penetration and awareness about healthcare is increasing in India, the e-health care services would grow at a very healthy rate. I expect that very soon, it would contribute about 2 percent in the overall healthcare sector," Mr Ravi Virmani, Credihealth, MD said.

Echoing similar views, Mr Vivek Srivastava, CEO, Health Care at Home India said that Internet and mobile phones will further push the growth of the sector. He also added that the business will contribute significantly to the overall healthcare industry.

He also believed that it is helping boost medical tourism in the country.

With the advent of telecommunication, it has become easier to deliver e-healthcare services. And with the ministry of health and family welfare's recent announcement that they will be starting an e-healthcare service, will also have a positive impact.
