Singapore: In collaboration with China, the Venezuela government recently announced plans to establish an organization for medical equipment and medical device management in the country. In a recent meeting, the country's President Mr Nicolas Maduro said that both the nations are analyzing the possibility of a center to foster the medical devices sector in the country.

Ms Nancy Perez, health minister, Venezuela, said, "In partnership with China, we aim to boost our capacity for production of biological material and antibiotics, and create new biotech laboratories to develop reagents. This initiative will help in making Venezuela self-sufficient in terms of medical needs and will raise the healthcare standards."

This project was designed by the vice president of the Social Area, Mr Hector Rodriguez, and Health Minister Ms Nancy Perez, along with experts from Venezuela and China. Mr Maduro explained that China has been for long the technology transfer partner for Venezuela and the deal with China will help in solving the immediate healthcare concerns of the country. He further stated that these efforts will help in making Venezuela an independent country in terms of drugs and medical supplies."
