01 February 2019 | News

Harjit Gill brings global experience, a passion for healthcare reform, and results driven leadership to further the Association’s collective efforts to address patient needs across the region.

The Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Harjit Gill, a recognised healthcare leader in the region with more than 25 years of experience in health and consumer technology products spanning Asia, Europe and the Middle East.  Founded in 2014, APACMed is the first and only regional association to provide a unified voice for the medical device, equipment and in-vitro diagnostics industry in Asia Pacific.

Harjit succeeds Fredrik Nyberg. With nearly three decades’ regional experience across the medical devices and life sciences industries, Nyberg was appointed in 2015 to lead the first and only regional MedTech Association dedicated to improving the standards of care for patients across a tremendously diverse, complex and fragmented region.

Vladimir Makatsaria, Chairman of APACMed, said “Under Fredrik’s leadership, the Association has grown from 9 to 122 member organisations, including a growing number of new start-ups and SMEs, which is a remarkable achievement. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to thank him for building a solid foundation for the Association. We warmly welcome our new CEO Harjit Gill and look forward to her driving the Association to new heights”.

Nyberg said: “It has been an honour to represent our industry and serve as Chief Executive of the Association over the last four years, and work alongside an impressive Board of Directors, committed member organisations, and an enthusiastic team. It was a privilege to build APACMed from the ground up, and see it thrive. I wish my successor, and the new Board all the very best for the future”.

Gill said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead a remarkable Association, at a time when the entire healthcare ecosystem across the region is undergoing such rapid transformation. As an Association, we will continue to devote our efforts to remaining relevant and adding value to each one of our member organisations. Above all, we will continue to place patients at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that collectively, we drive sustainable healthcare reform across the region”.
