South Korea-based Crescom, a company specialising in musculoskeletal medical artificial intelligence (AI), has signed a joint research agreement with the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) to verify the accuracy of its bone age analysis AI solution, 'MediAI-BA'.
This joint study will be conducted at the UKM Medical School affiliated hospital to verify the prediction accuracy of MediAI-BA based on the interpretation results of radiologists.
MediAI-BA is AI-based medical imaging analysis software that automatically analyses radiographic images of the hands in children and adolescents to calculate bone age. This software provides objective and consistent interpretation results regarding bone age, which is critical in the assessment of pediatric growth and development as well as in orthodontic diagnosis, while minimising inter-reader variability and supporting rapid analysis.
Crescom places significance on the fact that this agreement secures the opportunity to verify the performance of MediAI-BA in clinical settings at overseas national medical universities. In particular, it expects to accumulate clinical data that can be utilised for overseas regulatory approval and market entry by securing clinical evidence targeting the pediatric population in Southeast Asia.
