Japan-based FunPep and Crafton Biotechnology have entered into a joint research agreement and commenced collaborative research on therapeutic mRNA vaccines that integrate FunPep's antibody-inducing peptide technology with Crafton's proprietary mRNA technology.
FunPep is engaged in the creation and development of functional peptides based on its proprietary technologies, focusing on a diverse range of medical needs. The company's current research and development pipeline centers on "SR-0379" for skin ulcers, as well as antibody-inducing peptides (peptide therapeutic vaccines) leveraging its strength in the carrier peptide "AJP001."
Crafton is a biotechnology startup founded on technologies originating from Nagoya University and Institute of Science Tokyo. The company possesses an innovative mRNA drug discovery platform, including its proprietary capping technology "PureCap®," and is advancing the research and development of next-generation mRNA medicines through collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and a wide range of other partners.
The research aims to create novel therapeutic mRNA vaccines by integrating FunPep's antibody-inducing peptide technology with Crafton's mRNA drug discovery platform, which includes the proprietary capping technology "PureCap®." Under the agreed division of roles, Crafton will be responsible for the synthesis of the designed mRNA vaccines, while FunPep will conduct efficacy evaluation and related studies.
