South Korea-based Daewoong Pharmaceutical has entered into a distribution agreement with Waycen Inc., a medical AI company, for the AI-powered endoscopic image analysis software 'WAYMED ENDO', marking an expansion of its digital healthcare business.
WAYMED ENDO is Korea’s first AI-based real-time endoscopic image analysis software for the stomach and colon. It supports the detection of lesions that are easily missed by the naked eye during examinations, such as those hidden behind mucosal folds, located at the edges, or as small as 2–3 mm.
The AI also automatically measures key endoscopy quality indicators, including examination time and withdrawal time, thereby contributing to improved quality management and workflow efficiency for medical professionals.
Through this partnership, Daewoong plans to enhance its existing portfolio of gastrointestinal treatments, including therapies for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and bowel cleansing agents, by integrating AI-assisted diagnostic software. This will enable the company to offer a comprehensive 'total solution for gastrointestinal diseases', covering the entire continuum from examination and diagnosis to treatment.
