India's Metropolis Healthcare expands African footprint with new reference lab in Kenya

Leveraging advanced technology and experienced medical professionals to improve public health

Metropolis Star Lab Kenya, a subsidiary of India’s leading diagnostic service provider, Metropolis Healthcare, has announced the opening of its Regional Reference Laboratory in Nairobi, Kenya.

With a strong presence in Kenya for over 10 years, the launch of this new regional reference lab strategically positions Metropolis to deliver cutting-edge diagnostic services to the community.

Spanning over 6000 square feet, this state-of-the-art facility is equipped to process approximately 35,000 to 40,000 samples per month. It covers a wide range of specialties including haematology, microbiology, molecular biology, special chemistry, immunology, histology and cytology.

The all-new advanced diagnostic laboratory was inaugurated by Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health & Professional Standards, Government of Kenya. 

Commenting on the launch, Surendran Chemmenkotil, Chief Executive Officer, Metropolis Healthcare, said, "Metropolis has strategically strengthened its presence in Kenya over the years by setting up 21 centres across the country. Now, with the launch of our new and largest regional reference lab, we look forward to taking the baton from our existing branches and sharing the responsibility of providing world class diagnostic testing services to the citizens of Kenya.”
