Niowave and Ratio Therapeutics have signed a supply agreement for Actinium-225, strengthening Ratio’s access to a key radioisotope used in targeted alpha therapies.

Under the agreement, Niowave will supply cGMP Actinium-225 to support Ratio’s development of targeted radiotherapeutics. The supply is intended to support Ratio’s ongoing clinical trial activities and future programme advancement.

This is relevant because Actinium-225 has become one of the most important radioisotopes in the development of targeted cancer therapies. When attached to tumour-targeting molecules, Actinium-225 can deliver potent alpha radiation directly to cancer cells while limiting damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Reliable isotope supply is a major barrier in radiopharmaceutical development. Demand for targeted alpha therapies is increasing, but limited availability of medical radioisotopes can affect clinical trial planning, manufacturing scale-up and commercial readiness. For companies developing radiotherapeutics, securing supply is not just an operational issue, but a core part of development strategy.

Niowave is a U.S.-based manufacturer of medical radioisotopes and develops superconducting electron linear accelerators and radiochemistry procedures for isotope production. The company produces Actinium-225 and other isotopes to support next-generation cancer treatment development.

Ratio Therapeutics is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company developing precision radiopharmaceuticals for solid tumours. Its proprietary Trillium and Macropa platforms are designed to support fit-for-purpose heterobifunctional radiopharmaceuticals for therapy and imaging, with pharmacokinetic modulation intended to improve drug availability, tumour delivery and tumour loading.

The agreement also supports Ratio’s broader manufacturing strategy. The company maintains a collaboration with PharmaLogic and operates its own facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, to strengthen radiopharmaceutical production reliability and quality.

The partnership reflects the growing importance of supply chain control in radiopharmaceutical oncology. Unlike many conventional drug classes, radiopharmaceutical development depends heavily on access to specialised isotopes, manufacturing infrastructure, distribution timing and regulatory-grade production capacity.

Commercialisation of targeted alpha therapies will depend on more than clinical efficacy. Companies must also demonstrate that isotope supply, radiolabelling, logistics and treatment-centre readiness can scale reliably. This is particularly important for Actinium-225 therapies, where global supply constraints remain a key industry challenge.

For Ratio, the agreement gives additional supply support as it advances its radiopharmaceutical pipeline. For Niowave, it reinforces the company’s role as a strategic isotope supplier to oncology developers working on targeted alpha therapy programmes.
