Singapore biomed manufacturing grows in Jan'15
Singapore witnessed a growth in biomedical manufacturing output
Singapore: Singapore witnessed a growth in biomedical manufacturing output as it expanded by 5.3 percent in January 2015 as compared to the same period a year ago. Manufacturing in medical technology segment also increased by 12.2 percent, on account of strong demand for new medical devices, while pharmaceuticals output grew 3.6 percent.
Singapore is home to 30 global medical technology companies including Biosensors, Becton Dickinson, Alcon and local start-ups like HealthSTATS and Veredus Laboratories. In 2011, Singapore's medical technology sector contributed about S$4.3 billion in output and about 9,000 jobs.
