Partnership will see the development of professional education and promotion of mutual understanding

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore is deepening its partnership with Kazakhstan with a new collaboration to welcome Kazakh students and early-career researchers to NTU under a Kazakhstan government scholarship scheme.

NTU and the Centre for International Programmes, an organisation under the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Science and Higher Education, are collaborating under the Bolashaq programme, a scholarship administered by the Centre for Kazakh students and postdoctoral researchers to undertake postgraduate studies and research internships overseas at pre-approved institutions.

NTU Vice President (Research) Professor Ernst Kuipers and Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek inked the Memorandum of Understanding for the collaboration at the Kazakhstan – Singapore Forum recently.

The two institutions will collaborate in bringing Bolashak scholarship holders to NTU for postgraduate education and to work with NTU’s world-leading researchers on research internships.

The partnership will see the development of professional education and promotion of mutual understanding and training activities in several specific subject areas such as capacity-building around water resource management.

Kazhak scholars can also apply for Masters or PhD programmes under the “500 scientists” programme, which supports early career researchers in undertaking research internships for 3 to 12 months at overseas partner institutions.
