South Korea hosts Global Bio Conference 2021

Biopharmaceutical regulations and global vaccine hub strategies to address COVID-19 pandemic will be discussed

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (Minister Kim Ganglip) at South Korea will hold the Global Bio Conference 2021 entitled, “A New Normal : A Leap towards Newly Found Future of Biopharmaceuticals.” It will be held on September 13 (Mon) - 15 (Wed) and attended by regulatory officials and industry experts from approximately 20 countries including the U.S., Canada and Australia.

This year marks the 7 th year since the inception of the conference in 2015, and a total of 67 attendees in and out of Korea (30 from abroad) such as bio experts, industry representatives, and regulatory reviewers & inspectors will come together to discuss development trends of COVID-19 treatments and vaccines, strategies to build a global vaccine hub, as well as future paths and roles of regulatory authorities.

Keynote speeches in relation to accomplishments and latest cases in biopharmaceutical R&D will be given by- Dr. Peter C. Doherty, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology (1996); Dr. Lee, Jong-koo, former Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control Prevention Agency and Professor at Seoul National University College of Medicine; Dr. Margaret Hamburg, former Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; Dr. Aaron Ciechanover, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, and many more.

The MFDS expects that the GBC 2021 will serve as a chance to help everyone attended be better prepared for potential risks brought about by new infectious diseases and gain insight on the future of biopharmaceuticals by sharing latest R&D development trends and licensure/approval-related regulatory science and policies.
