Omron Healthcare, a global leader in the field of clinically proven, innovative medical equipment for home health monitoring and treatment from Japan, will soon be rolling out blood pressure monitors (BPM) from its Chennai facility with 'Made in India' logo.
Speaking to media recently at the launch of KeeboHealth in association with Tricog Health in Bengaluru, India, Hiroshi Ogawa, Managing Director, OMRON Healthcare India, said “We will be using the produced BPMs to the local market which is growing very fast. Currently we are sourcing BPMs from Vietnam and channelling the distribution in the country through our Chennai warehouse. In future i.e. when we reach the full utilisation of the facility, we will explore the export opportunity.”
The India operation of Omron Healthcare with $30 million in sales last year and growing at double digit has invested Rs 128 crore in its Chennai facility which is spread over 24000 square metres. The foundation for the facility was laid after signing the memorandum on the establishment of the factory on June 2, 2023 in the presence of M.K. Stalin, Chief Minister of the Tamil Nadu State Government.
On the occasion, Ayumu Okada, President and CEO of Omron Healthcare, noted "Due to the rapid economic and population growth in India, the number of patients suffering from lifestyle diseases such as hypertension is expected to increase. The establishment of the manufacturing factory will help us to strengthen the supply chain of blood pressure monitors while exploring the solutions for disease management and early disease detection before it worsens. For realizing the vision of 'Going for ZERO,' the company is committed to contributing to the health-related issues of the country."
