Malaysia secures 18.4 M doses of Sputnik V and Sinovac vaccines

Duopharma will supply 6.4 M doses of Sputnik V vaccine (arriving March end) and Pharmaniaga Berhad will supply 12 M doses of CoronaVac vaccine (arriving in Feb)

Health ministry in Malaysia has inked agreements to purchase Russian Gamaleya's Sputnik V vaccine (18.4 M doses) and CoronaVac vaccine from China's Sinovac.
Two domestic distribution companies Pharmaniaga Berhad and Duopharma (M) Sdn Bhd have taken up the supply and distribution responsibility. Malaysian Government is already set for National vaccination programs on Feb 26th starting with Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
Malaysian pharmaceutical firm Duopharma will supply the government with 6.4 million doses of Gamaleya's Sputnik V vaccine, the ministry said in a statement. It said Malaysia Pharmaniaga Berhad will supply 12 million doses of Sinovac's vaccine.
The deals will ensure enough supplies to cover 9.2 million people, or 28.75% of the population, subject to approval by Malaysia's pharmaceutical regulators.

Pharmaniaga is procuring bulk volume of CoronaVac vaccine to produce ready-to-use vials in Malaysia following filling, logistics and distribution. The deal also includes the vaccine technology transfer to the group and subsequent domestic manufacturing rights.
