Women in Singapore now have another option to support their cervical health following Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, with DKSH's launch of Colpofix®. The vaginal spray gel medical device is indicated for the prevention and treatment of cervical lesions caused by HPV.
HPV is one of the most common viral infections worldwide, with one in 10 women in Singapore affected by the infection. A 'wait and see' approach is adopted as most cases clear naturally within one to two years, but when HPV persists, it can lead to cervical cell changes that require medical follow-up and monitoring.
Colpofix® gives healthcare professionals and women an additional option during this stage. It acts locally on the cervico-vaginal mucosa and helps control the physiological conditions of the transformation zone.
Clinical studies have reported positive results in the regression of low-grade cervical lesions, restoration and maintenance of the vaginal microbiota, and re-epithelialisation of the cervical mucosa, contributing to an improvement in HPV clearance.In one study, Colpofix® demonstrated 95.7% regression of HPV-CIN1 lesions.
Once applied, the medical device sprays a gel that forms a protective film over the cervico-vaginal mucosa. It supports hydration to promote re-epithelialisation and the regression of cervical lesions. It also helps restore and maintain the vaginal microbiota. An ergonomic cannula allows the gel to be applied accurately and distributed evenly without spilling.
