To further enhance Taiwan’s role in global clinical research and innovative drug development, accelerate the advancement of cutting-edge medical technologies, and improve patient access to innovative treatments, National Taiwan University Hospital and Johnson & Johnson Taiwan have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Through Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s global R&D network, the two parties will deepen collaboration in areas such as cancer, immune-mediated diseases, and innovative medical technologies. The two parties have recently collaborated on several international scientific publications in oncology.
This MoU aims to establish a longer-term cooperation framework, beginning with innovative cancer research as an important starting point and extending to areas such as immune-mediated diseases and innovative medical technologies.
By connecting NTU Hospital’s outstanding clinical research experience with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s global R&D network, the collaboration seeks to deepen scientific exchange, promote cooperation in early clinical development, and strengthen Taiwan’s key role in next-generation oncology research.
According to the MoU, the two parties will prioritise research collaboration in cancer, immune-mediated diseases, and innovative medical technologies, while continuing to explore opportunities in multinational clinical trials, local research programs, Investigator-Initiated Research (IIT), clinical trial efficiency improvement, and scientific talent exchange.
Looking ahead, the two parties will take innovative cancer research as an important starting point to explore more opportunities for Taiwan to participate in next-generation cancer drug development and global innovation R&D. By translating more forward-looking research outcomes into value for clinical care, the collaboration not only echoes Taiwan’s direction of building an Asia-Pacific clinical trial hub and advancing the internationalisation of biomedical innovation, but also brings more breakthrough treatment options to patients.
