Themed "Building Bridges, Connecting Visions", China-based medtech firm Mindray successfully held the 2022 South East Asia (SEA) & South Asia Mindray Ultrasound Forum in Bali, Indonesia recently. More than 150 participants from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand joined the academic forum where experts exchanged clinical expertise and shared insights on industry-leading technologies.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Mindray officially launched the multi-centre research programme on "Combined Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound", led by two Principal Investigator (PI) institutes: HUGI (Indonesian Urogynecology Association) and The Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from China.
There are still limited studies on Pelvic Floor Disorders (PFD) in Southeast Asian Women and a difference in the management of PFD among SEA countries.
This project would explore the feasibility of an antepartum ultrasound examination to predict the delivery mode; secondly to judge the progress of labour by antepartum ultrasound; and thirdly to analyse the correlation between antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum PPUS and Female Pelvic Floor Dysfunction (FPFD).
This project will establish a protocol to predict delivery mode and help monitor the stages of labour. Moreover, it can detect structural abnormalities of periodic flow before occurrence of clinical symptoms postpartum.
