Accenture study: Healthcare IT solutions rising in Singapore

Singapore: The new hub of healthcare IT

Singapore: Singapore is making significant strides in adopting healthcare IT and translating these advanced capabilities, such as clinical decision support, into regular use among physicians, according to Accenture's recent eight country study of health technology.

The two imperative developments occurring in Singapore are the important growth taking place through mobile use and the more hands-on supervision by patients of their own health. The Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015) 10-year master plan was started in 2006 by the Singapore government to help the country realize its potential for growth through infocomm technologies. This was the driving force of the study's decision.

"Singapore is proving that healthcare IT is an important means of driving effectiveness and efficiency across care delivery," said Mr Matthew Bates, lead, global solution development, healthcare analytics, Accenture. "According to Accenture's Singapore physician survey, roughly one-third of Singapore physicians reported using analytics for improving the quality of care decisions while adopting electronic tools, such as e-billing, to improve efficiency."

The HIMSS AsiaPac12 Conference and Exhibition will take place on September 18-19, 2012, at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. One of the first sessions at the conference will be presented by Mr Bates on 'Harnessing the Power of Health Analytics to Deliver More Effective, Efficient and Affordable Healthcare'. Analytics is quickly becoming a vital health tool, helping governments and healthcare providers to confront the challenges posed by ageing, less-fit populations, affected by chronic and more complex disease states.
