Annual production capacity of 100,000 metric tons; Reinforces Bio-based solutions, the energy transition, and the circular economy in pharmaceutical industry

A major milestone in Evonik's global catalyst strategy has been achieved with the opening of its new alkoxides production facility on Jurong Island, Singapore.

A mid-double-digit million euro investment announced by Evonik in May 2023 will strengthen the company's capability to meet the growing demand for alkoxides across Asia, while advancing its sustainable operations.

Designed to meet the highest safety and environmental standards, the facility is capable of operating with net-zero Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, aligning with Evonik’s broader sustainability goals. The plant’s strategic location in Southeast Asia ensures rapid response times and reliable supply for regional customers, supporting industries such as biodiesel, pharmaceuticals, and chemical recycling.

The opening of the new facility was marked by a festive ceremony attended by Ms. Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-Charge of Trade Relations.

A strategic part of Evonik's transformation journey, the facility is embedded in one of the two newly defined branches of the company's portfolio, Custom Solutions, part of Evonik's focus on innovation-driven growth. The investment supports Evonik’s ambition to lead in areas such as bio-based solutions, the energy transition, and the circular economy, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and high-performance chemistry.

The Custom Solutions segment focuses on innovation-driven, tailor-made solutions for customers in specific growth markets. These solutions include additives for coatings, adhesives and sealants, polyurethane foams and lubricants, catalysts, and ingredients for the cosmetics, cleaning and pharmaceutical industries.
