Singapore's Orbit Health announced the winning of the 2020 Wild Card programme Digital Therapeutics track supported by EIT Health – an organization backed by the EU as part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.

The success equips the company with 1.5 million Euros investment to bring-to-market its first artificial intelligence solution to enable the effective personalization of treatment for Parkinson’s disease. In addition to the financial support, EIT Health offers expert mentoring and coaching and access to its vast network across Europe.

Using just a smartwatch, Orbit’s AI solution processes the passively captured motion data from the watch to provide physicians with continuous and objective motor symptom insights. This enables physicians to see how an individual patient reacts to each medication and adjust treatment accordingly to achieve optimal symptom control. By analysing the way in which each patient responds to their treatment using technology that can be integrated into clinical practice, clinicians can prescribe the optimal treatment regime and improve the quality of life of patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

“Parkinson’s is a complex disease, and every patient reacts to treatment differently. Our solution equips clinicians with reliable, continuous, and objective symptom insights that are easy to access to effectively personalise treatments for each patient. Our ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for both the patients and their families and address the cost-efficiency of the healthcare system. In the future, our solution could even help guide treatment options for each individual patient.” said Patty Lee, CEO and co-founder of Orbit Health.

“Orbit’s long-term vision to enable digital health solutions, integrate them into clinical practice, and promote community and home health to play key roles in the prevention, detection, and management of chronic conditions.” said Franz Pfister, co-founder of Orbit Health.
