Singapore-headquartered digital health startup Gmedes announced the launch of G-MEDS, a clinic app service that allows clinics to electronically prescribe, bill, dispense and deliver routine medication directly to the homes and offices of patients or their caregivers. The service is targeted towards busy professionals, the elderly, home-bound patients and their caregivers.
Through the G-MEDS app, clinics are able to gain access to a broad on-demand stock of locally approved medications as well as over-the-counter drugs and supplements. According to Gmedes’ website, the company “works closely with a well-established Malaysia pharmacy chain and a reputable Singapore pharmacy, to source and deliver a wide range of branded and branded generics worldwide.”
With the launch of the service/app, nearly 2,000 private medical clinics are now able to provide same day or next day prescription delivery island-wide in Singapore. The G-MEDS app can be integrated with existing clinic management systems and it currently works with two of them, Clinic Assist and Plato.
“With an ageing population in Singapore and rising chronic disease rates, busy patients and caregivers will benefit from this convenient service,” said Gmedes CEO Dennis Susay in a statement.
THE LARGER TREND
According to an e27 report, Gmedes secured a Pre-Series A funding led by 500 Startups’ Southeast Asia focused 500 Durians fund and 500 Tuk Tuks fund in November 2019. The funds will be used to implement partnerships to activate the G-MEDS service for clinics, hospitals, pharmacy, telemedicine providers, and healthcare merchants across Singapore, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indochina.
Last August, Singapore-based digital health startup WhiteCoat announced a partnership with Grab to enhance its medication delivery services via GrabExpress, the on-demand, door-to-door courier and parcel delivery service, MobiHealthNews reported. Through the partnership, patients can conveniently and quickly receive their prescribed medication within 90 minutes after consulting a doctor via WhiteCoat’s mobile app, significantly reducing the current average waiting time of three hours.
