Singapore – Singapore is set to host Asia’s premier regional forum on cardiovascular health as it welcomes key opinion leaders and participants from across the globe who will be attending the CardioVascular Clinical Trialists (CVCT) Asia Forum which will be held here from 14 July to 15 July.

The CVCT Asia Forum, organised with an unrestricted grant by the Menarini International Foundation, will feature discussions on the latest advancements and key themes in cardiovascular clinical trials as well as the future of cardiovascular precision medicine. The Forum will also focus on the unique features of cardiovascular disease in Asia and discuss ways to address issues and unmet needs in clinical trials.

The opening session of the CVCT Asia Forum will focus on the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in Asia Pacific, highlighting the unique Asian phenotype of disease, gaps in knowledge as well as unmet needs that should be urgently addressed in cardiovascular clinical trials.

Course director Carolyn Lam said, “We’re excited to hear insights from leading experts who will discuss key questions within the context of Asia, for example, do Asian patients really need lower doses than Western patients?”

On the topic of heart failure drug trials, the potential geographic difference in patient populations worldwide, the applicability of trial findings in the diverse settings across Asia as well as the current trend to focus on or involve Asia in combined global trial efforts will also be discussed at the CVCT Asia Forum.

The CVCT Asia Forum also presents an opportunity to discuss device-based intervention. While it is well accepted under international guidelines, device-based intervention remains underused in Asia, where important geographic and ethnic differences may contribute to different practices across the region. The utility of remote monitoring will also be discussed, particularly within the context of Asia.
