The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) in South Korea and Google jointly coordinated ‘AI for Korea 2023,’ which was held from July 13 to 15. The event took place in the Grand Ballroom of InterContinental Grand Seoul Parnas.

The event aimed to expand and globalise the scope of Korea’s artificial intelligence (AI) industry, which has recently been very dynamic, by strengthening R&D cooperation with Google, the world’s leading power in AI technology, and support the growth of Korean human resources into global-level talents.

For human resources development, Google will more than double the scale of its ‘Machine Learning Boot Camp’ programme, and introduce an exclusive digital education programme in Korean targeted for non-majors or those without job experience in the field.

Google will also kick off ‘Start-Up School’ for students, entrepreneurs, both active and prospective. Furthermore, MSIT is envisioning to operate a joint curriculum with Google.

As for AI R&D promotion, MSIT will arrange a periodic academic exchange programme between Korea’s AI Innovation Hub and Google. The academic exchanges will result in joint research effort in the latter half of the year.

Google has selected seven outstanding Korean researchers and will support their research projects.
