Singapore: Mr Marty Golden will be joining Astellas as the new vice president of Government Affairs with effect from July 1, 2014, the company announced.

Mr Golden will be leading Federal Government Affairs, State Government Affairs, Therapeutic Area Government Strategy, and Corporate Government Strategy for Astellas in the Americas, the company's statement said.

It added that Mr Golden will be reporting to Mr Percival Barretto-Ko, senior vice president, Corporate Strategy and Government Affairs. "Marty's proven track-record of success, rare blend of commercial and legal expertise, and in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and the intricacies involved in navigating government and policy issues will be extremely beneficial," said Mr Barretto-Ko.

He added, "As Astellas continues to grow in the Americas region, Marty will ensure that the development and implementation of proactive policy strategies will continue to align with and advance our business goals. He will be joining and leading a team of highly respected and accomplished individuals in the Government Affairs organisation."

Before this, Mr Golden served as vice president, Hospital and Transplant Sales for Astellas. He joined Astellas in 2006 and has also held roles in New Product Planning and Strategy. Mr Golden held several positions with increasing responsibility across several disciplines for Novartis, Johnson & Johnson and Bristol-Myers Squibb prior to his Astellas stint.
