Shimadzu Global Pharma Summit gathers veterans to discuss regulatory challenges

Singapore: 5th Shimadzu Global Pharma Summit 2015, the flagship event of Shimadzu that provides a platform for the global pharma industry to network, share and discuss strategies for the future, was organized by Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) from November 25 to November 27, 2015 in Singapore.

The event marked presence of over 200 global pharma leaders from over 100 global pharma organisation from 16 countries in formulating strategies to face regulatory challenges with confidence, the theme of the event.

Mr Akira Nakamoto, chairman, Shimadzu Corporation, Japan highlighted that, "I would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude for your patronage towards our products and the many ways in which you continue to extend your support to us. Shimadzu, together with our clients, has been deeply involved in adhering to compliance and we could all use this platform to share our thoughts and help to contribute towards compliance of each and every one of you."

Mr Kiminobu Imura, MD, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific), Singapore commented, "Our mission is to enable the pharma industry by providing platforms such as this to help foster cooperative partnerships and through our wide range of state-of-the-art technology solutions. Dr Dave (Dai) Li, ex-medical officer, US FDA & Founder, Next BioResearch Services, US, shared his view on "Face Regulatory Challenges with Confidence: A precision medicine perspective".

The 5th Shimadzu Global Pharma Summit 2015 also saw the ceremonial bestowing of the 2015 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Mass Spectrometry Company of the Year Award by Ms Rhenu Bhuller, Partner & Senior Vice President, Frost & Sullivan, Singapore, to Mr Kiminobu Imura, Managing Director, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd, and Ms Sandhya Nargund, Manager, MS & Chromato, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific).


Mr Prem Anand, senior general manager, Shimadzu (Asia Pacific), Singapore, concluded the event by highlighting that, "Generics, innovators and CRAMS globally have all been facing regulatory hurdles from various bodies. The true test for the pharma industry in the coming years will be to help formulate better regulations that enable faster release of cost-effective drugs. We hope that the knowledge that has been shared, the ideas that have been generated and strategies that have been formulated at this 5th Shimadzu Global Pharma Summit 2015 will help you in "Facing Regulatory Challenges with Confidence" and in "Contributing to Society through Science and Technology."


The 6th Shimadzu Global Pharma Summit would be organized in 2017. It would focus on the most pertinent challenges that the pharma industry would encounter in the next two years.
