Singapore: As per a recent news report, an Australian traveler to Japan has been diagnosed with dengue fever. As per the notification published in the report, the 51-year-old man had visited Yoyogi Park in Tokyo and is said to have contracted the fever and other symptoms suggesting dengue fever. It added that the laboratory analysis by NS1Ag [nonstructural protein 1 antigen test] was positive.

As per the Japanese health ministry, the Yoyogi Park has been the epicenter of the first indigenous cases of dengue fever since World War II. In fact, the Tokyo metropolitan government had closed parts of Yoyogi Park and other Tokyo area parks in an attempt to curb the spread of dengue.

As per Japan's health ministry, the case count has shot up to 115 locally acquired cases since August 27.
