Yokohama sets platform for 700 bio-pharmas to convene at BioJapan 2015
The seventeenth edition of BioJapan 2015, one of Asia's largest partnering events, will be held for three days from October 14th to 16th, 2015 at Pacifico Yokohama in Japan. Comprised of exhibitions, seminars, and partnering meetings, this year marks the 17th installment of BioJapan, which has continued to expand in scale, adding exhibitors and steadily increasing the number of one-to-one meetings since its first convention in 1986.
As an integrated exhibition that embodies regenerative medicine, personalized medicine, diagnostics, functional food, bio-energy and other facets, this event is said to gather top-level executives as well as experts responsible for R&D, business development, licensing, and alliances, all under one roof to share cutting-edge solutions, technology and important information.
BioJapan is said to house 8000 partnering meetings and roughly 700 companies from across the globe may convene at BioJapan 2015, spanning from big pharma to bio-venture companies.
The organizers of BioJapan claim that the event will play an important role in facilitating interaction between Japanese and global companies/organizations and stimulating new business opportunities. The Japanese and global biotechnology industry's top business development and licensing professionals, alliance management professionals, R&D personnel and biotech company executives are said to gather in Yokohama.
Besides the official sponsors such as Chugai Pharmaceutical, Kyowa Hakko Kirin, Novartis Pharma, MSD, and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma, participants may also include Takeda, Astellas Pharma, Daiichi Sankyo, Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma, Sanofi, Bayer Yakuhin, AstraZeneca, Merck Serono as well as many other SMEs, bio-ventures, research institutions and academic organizations. The participants will hail from approximately 30 different countries including the US, Canada, Germany, Belgium, China.
To enable one-to-one meetings, the event will feature a unique computerized 'Matching System' that is said to open the door to new business opportunities. BioJapan's Matching System would be a beneficial tool to let users efficiently explore needs and solutions, and effortlessly schedule one-to-one meetings. It is believed that several key players have already begun actively exchanging messages.
Not only will visitors find information encompassing drug discovery and healthcare, but there will also be a comprehensive line-up of presentation themes on offer that will cover everything from green biotechnology to bio-venture investment and functional foods.
Some of the Keynote Speakers include: Makoto Suematsu, President, Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development, Masayo Tada, President, Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, William M. Burns, Independent Company Director and former CEO of the Pharmaceutical Division of Roche. A special speech will be given by Jerry Flint, Vice President, Industry Affairs and Regulatory, DuPont Pioneer.
