Singapore: Daiichi Sankyo's affiliate, the Japan Research Foundation for Clinical Pharmacology, has awarded its 5th Japan Research Foundation for Clinical Pharmacology Research Award to six young researchers this year.

Awardees were selected from research papers submitted from projects funded with subsidies from the foundation. Innovative research projects with expectations for future development are eligible for the award. The foundation hopes that the award will motivate young researchers in clinical pharmacology involved in establishment of appropriate drug treatments and encourage future research results. The awards ceremony and presentations of the research themes will be held on November 9, 2012.

The mission of the foundation is to promote clinical pharmacology and foster the development of clinical pharmacologists. The foundation was established in 1975 and it has worked on a variety of projects relating to clinical pharmacology, including promotion of research, overseas studies for Japanese researchers and Asian international collaborations.

The awardees are Naoki Inui of Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics , Hamamatsu University School of Medicine; Hiroyuki Uchida of Department of Neuropsychiatry , Keio University School of Medicine; Hiroyuki Kusuhara of Laboratory of Molecular Pharmacokinetics Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Tokyo; Yoshiyuki Kojima of Department of Nephro-Urology, Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Nagoya City University; Hideki Hayashi, Department of Clinical Pharmacology & Genetics , School of Pharmaceutical Science, University of Shizuoka; Yuki Asano-Mori of Department of Hematology, Federation of National Public Service, Personnel Mutual Aid Associations, Toranomon Hospital.
