A positive business environment, access to global expertise and the presence of world renowned universities, is helping the UK to nurture some of the most innovative companies. Life science companies in the UK leverage the talents of more than 400 thousand employees, generating some £25 billion in product sales alone. UK scientists have won 47 Nobel Prizes in the last 50 years; more than 20 of these were in life sciences. In the UK, the life science sector attracts an impressive 10.20 percent of the world's entire life science research and development funding. These factors are making it irresistible for life science companies to collaborate with the country.

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ABLE in September last year, to develop better relationships between UK and Indian companies in the area of life sciences. Ever since, two delegations have visited India, one in oncology and the other in pharmaceuticals at CPhI in Mumbai. Bangalore India BIO would be the third event to witness the presence of the UK delegation. This year the delegation will comprise of 15 life science firms.
Moreover, Nobel Laureate Sir John Gurdon from Cambridge, UK, will be the Guest of Honor.

There are various opportunities for the Indian life science fraternity to meet the delegation. There is a networking breakfast on February 10, 2014, at Baluchi in Lalit Ashok, Bangalore, followed by the inaugural of the UK Pavilion by Mr Srivatsa Krishna, IT-BT Secretary to Karnataka, followed by networking receptions on February 10th and 11th evenings.

Participants can visit the UK Pavilion (P3 - Hall A) at the exhibition center to partake a Diabetes-friendly cake, a free blood-sugar check; meet UK companies; or have a chat with UKTI commercial officers from Bangalore and Mumbai.
