Short Stay Service, also known as 'Day Surgery', involves admitting patients for a planned surgical procedure and releasing them the same day
Mumbai: PD Hinduja Hospital, which is one of India's premier healthcare providers, has inaugurated a dedicated Short Stay Service (SSS) wing.
The hospital currently performs over 120 procedures that usually require more than a day's admission. However, the launch of the dedicated SSS wing means that the lengthy procedures would now be completed in just a few hours.
Short Stay Service, also known as 'Day Surgery', involves admitting patients for a planned surgical procedure and releasing them the same day. This is being made possible by advancement in surgical technology and anaesthetic techniques.
The SSS wing offers 19 beds, four of which belong to the premium category. SSS patients will have access to quality care through state-of-the-art operation theatres, labs and qualified doctors. A team of customer service personnel will be on hand at all times, to guide patients right from admissions to check out, and keep track of patients' recovery even after discharge. The wing will also boast of a high nurse-to-bed ratio.
The benfits that the new SSS wing will offer to patients include, lower costs due to reduced length of stay; easy acceptance by insurance companies (as they favor short stay procedures); speedier return to work and community due to reduced length of stay; availability of home care service after discharge; and personalised customer care service.
