Ebola scare: The Supreme Court of India, on August 29, has sought a report from the central government on the precautionary steps taken to ensure the safety of the citizens
Singapore: As per the information bulletin issued by the Indian health ministry, the construction group, Afcons and International SOS have brought back 113 passengers (including 2 Nepalese Nationals) from Liberia to India. The report added that 96 passengers landed in Mumbai and another 17 in Delhi.
The passengers who landed in Delhi were also taken to Mumbai by Afcons. They have all traveled to their respective destinations. State Governments have been provided with the details. The IDSP is tracking these passengers. Reports have been received from the State IDSP units of 18 of the 20 States about 80 passengers being monitored. One passenger, who is being tracked and monitored in West Bengal has confirmed to be having Malaria (P falciparum).
The ministry has reported that during the last 24 hours, 181 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the airports of Mumbai (71), Delhi (44), Chennai (22), Bangalore (26), Kochi (4), Trivandrum (7), Hyderabad (4), and Kolkata (3). Six high risk (suspect) cases have been admitted on 1st September 2014 to the quarantine facility at the Delhi Airport. About 15,009 passengers arriving at International airports have been screened since the process started on August 10, 2014 (as on August 27, 2014).
The Control Room in the country's ministry of health and family welfare has received 706 calls since its inception on August 9, 2014 and only 5 calls were received in the past 24 hours. Most of the callers have sought information on signs and symptoms of the disease and travel related risk of acquiring the infection.
