EBTC and ABLE sign memorandum of cooperation in Bangalore
Bangalore: The European Business and Technology Center (EBTC), an initiative co-funded by the European Union (EU), and coordinated by EUROCHAMBRES has entered into a memorandum of cooperation with the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE), a not-for-profit national forum that represents the Indian biotechnology sector to promote bilateral relationships with a view to develop business and R&D cooperation between EU and Indian companies in the biotechnology and clean tech arena.
Mr Poul V Jensen, director, EBTC, and Dr Vijay Chandru, former president, ABLE, signed the memorandum during EBTC Biotechnology Mission 2012, in Bangalore. As a part of mission, about 10 companies from the EU will make a three-day visit to India to expand their business interest with Indian companies.
EBTC and ABLE, in the spirit of friendliness, equality and mutual benefit, have agreed to work together on both business and R&D cooperation promotion, and will initiate an interactive forum to discuss with Indian companies, R&D institutes and centers of excellence to focus on the exchange of information, know-how, skill development and technology with EU organizations, strengthen mutual cooperation, conduct special seminars, symposia and exchange business delegation visits, promote joint ventures, cooperative production, as well as economic and technological cooperation between the manufactures and enterprises of both countries.
Sharing his thoughts Mr Jensen, said that, "With ABLE's strong position in the Indian biotech sector, this intensified collaboration between our two organizations is a very promising development in EBTC's mission to foster cooperation between EU and India in the biotech and clean tech sector."
Speaking on the benefits for India, Dr Vijay Chandru said that, "Fostering biotechnology is an obvious choice for a country like India which has huge healthcare and energy demand in the future. ABLE collaborating with EBTC will help Indian member organizations of ABLE to grow faster by forging collaborations with progressive EU organizations."
