Bangalore Nano 2012 to be held on December 6-7, 2012
Bangalore: The department of information technology (IT), biotechnology (BT) and science and technology (S&T), Government of Karnataka, under the guidance of Vision Group on Nanotechnology revealed that the 5th edition of Bangalore Nano will be held on December 6-7, 2012, at The Lalit Ashok, Bangalore. The theme of this years' event will be 'Nanotechnology creating better tomorrow for India and for the world'.
The 5th assemblage of Bangalore Nano will feature an exhibition and conference sessions addressed by internationally acclaimed speakers and experts discussing a range of issues pertaining to R&D, skills requirement, institutions involved, risks issues, regulatory and governance structure, investment and collaborations between academia and industry. Bangalore Nano 2012 will also feature a pre-conference tutorial session on the fundamentals to nanofabrication on December 05.
The key speakers of the vent will include Professor Sir Richard Friend, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, UK; Dr Michael L Klein, Temple University, US; Professor Sandip Tiwari, Cornell University, US; Professor Dr Masakazu Aono, National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Ibaraki, Japan; Professor Martin Hegner, FTCD, Nanobiotech Group, CRANN, The Naughton Institute.
Several eminent individuals from India are also expected to speak at the event, including Dr Manu Jaggi, Dabur Research Foundation; Professor Rudra Pratap, CeNSE, IISc; Dr Alok Dhawan, Ahmedabad University; Professor N Ravishankar, materials research center, IISc; Dr Mano Manoharan, GE global research-John F Welch technology Center; Dr Sundara Ramaprabhu, IIT-Madras; Professor Umesh Waghmare, JNCASR.
The Bangalore Nano National Award would be presented during the event to a distinguished personality for significant achievements in the field of nanotechnology. The selection would be done by a special jury under the chairmanship of Professor CNR Rao, FRS, Linus Pauling research professor; and honorary president, JNCASR. Moreover, India Nanotech Innovation Award would be given at the event and and a special program called 'Nano for the Young' is also being organized. The event will also feature a ´Poster Session´, 'Research Industry Collaboration Hub' programme (RICH) offering unique partnering opportunities for showcasing innovations in Nanotechnology.
