PATH officials visit Chengdu for progress review of WHO prequalification work

Singapore: In a step forward, PATH senior project officer Ms Amie Bishop, accompanied by PATH Beijing Director Mr Zhang Jiankang visited CNBG Chengdu to take stock of the progress on the WHO pre-qualification status for a JE vaccine. They also discussed further cooperation opportunities after getting the receipt of the WHO pre-qualification status.

Mr GE Yonghong, general manager of CNBG Chengdu, and Mr Yao Yafu, deputy general manager of the company, introduced the visitors to process and current stage of the JE WHO pre-qualification project as well as the production capacity. The two sides also exchanged views on how to promote the use of the JE live vaccine in JE endemic areas and the future cooperation.

PATH officials said the JE project is one of the most important projects in PATH, and the organization, along with the Gates Foundation, is considering continuous support to Chengdu after it receives the WHO pre-qualification status.
