Singapore: According to recent reports from the National Health Services of Pakistan, pentavalent vaccine worth nearly $1.3 million has spoiled in a store room in Pakistan.

The vaccine, enough to vaccinate 4,00,000 infants is a combination of five vaccine in one-diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, Hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenza type B, according to the UNICEF.

Health officials said that lack of appropriate temperature controls lets to the spoilage of the vaccine doses. Three junior officials have been suspended for negligence.

An email was sent from a fake account to the Senator Ms Ayesha Raza Farooq stating that the vaccines had spoiled in the store room due to negligence. The email was also marked to international donors like WHO and the UNESCO.

Upon further investigation it was found that the information mentioned in the email was correct. "NHS ministry secretary Mr Ayub Sheikh immediately suspended a storekeeper and a sub-engineer," said an official from the Ministry to a news agency.
