Australia's iMDsoft has launched its MetaVision SafeTrack, an advanced track and trigger system, to Australian hospitals.
MetaVision SafeTrack replaces paper charts with electronic documentation and triggering mechanisms to ensure rapid response. The system collects vital signs and nursing observations at the bedside, automatically calculates early warning scores and provides options for immediate escalations to the relevant clinicians, Medical Emergency Teams and Liaison Nurses.
Smart alerts for conditions such as sepsis and VTE are another way to identify patients in need of immediate attention. These alerts incorporate observations with other information such as lab results as soon as they are available, highlighting risk for dangerous conditions, independent of the bedside clinician. As a result of timely intervention, hospitals can reduce complications, readmission to high acuity settings and length of stay.
MetaVision SafeTrack supports nursing workflow and facilitates documentation. Nurses have assessment and screening options for sepsis, SIRS, AKI, dementia, MUST, MRSA and more, with clinical decision support for a step-by-step course of action based on the data provided. Tools for task management and shift handover help clinicians work more effectively and prioritize care.
iMDsoft offers complete EMR for clinical information management throughout the hospital, allowing hospitals to expand their use of MetaVision SafeTrack to include additional modules such as clinical charting and medication management.
MetaVision SafeTrack is in use at University Hospital Southampton in the UK, with a successful first go-live in their Trauma Orthopedic unit. Using mobile devices across 57 wards, 3,000 nurses and midwives will replace paper with MetaVision SafeTrack to capture observations for all 1237 of their general ward level 1 beds. The hospital also uses the MetaVision PDMS for all of their high acuity environments and will benefit from a continuum of information throughout the hospital.
