The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) for collaboration in research and innovation, knowledge transfer and talent development in the fields of radiotherapy, medical imaging and health informatics.
By combining the strengths of both institutions, the partnership aims to develop cutting-edge technologies—such as artificial intelligence (AI)-driven healthcare and biomedicine—and cultivate outstanding talent in medicine-engineering integration, fostering integration of technological innovation and medical advancememt.
Representatives from both sides are exploring key areas of collaboration and proposed potential joint research topics, covering precision diagnosis and treatment for tumours, the adoption of advanced medical equipment and the development of anti-tumour drugs.
PolyU envisions that, if the University ultimately secures support from the HKSAR Government to establish Hong Kong’s third medical school, PUMCH would serve as a clinical training hospital for its medical students. Additionally, PolyU could offer training for PUMCH’s core technical staff on AI-driven medical technology, while also fostering academic exchanges, joint postgraduate training, and dual-degree programmes.
