Moderna Inc. is seeking its first GM in Japan to build and lead this new entity - the first Moderna subsidiary in Asia.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Represent and assume fiduciary and legal and regulatory responsibilities
• Build Japan organization with key functions to manage existing revenue from day1 and future business growth
• Be responsible for the overall management of the company, including P&L and maximize company’s profitable growth
• Develop strategic direction and commercial leadership on pipeline drugs for Japan
• Be the thought leader and leverage an extensive network to grow the business
• Attract, retain and develop talent to ensure sustainable growth by positioning Moderna as a preferred employer
• Build and establish a performance-driven team and collaborative culture. Energize and engage teams around the purpose and strategy of the business
• Build and manage strategic partnerships with key customers across the spectrum: government, patient group, KOL, enterprises, and entrepreneurs etc.
• Manage strategic global partnerships including Takeda for COVID-19 manufacturer
• Influence internal stakeholders regarding matters of significance, including calculated risk-taking opportunities
• Manage COVID-19 Vaccine supply by managing Japan government expectation and Takeda as a manufacturer
• Educate critical stakeholders and shape the regulatory environment for smooth approvals of mRNA therapy products

Here’s What You’ll Bring To The Table

• An advanced degree in business management, economics, finance or life sciences-related disciplines (e.g. medical, pharmacy, biology, chemistry)
• A seasoned business leader with significant executive presence and a demonstrated ability to grow business and drive operational rigor
• At least five years of demonstrated general management or commercial leadership experience leading diverse companies at MNCs within the Pharma industry
• Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to operate successfully in a start-up
• Strong leadership with an excellent reputation in the market
• Presentable, convincing with strong communication skills, fluent in Japanese and English in both speaking and writing
• Working experience for an international Biotech company is a plus
