Dr Wu is now Fellow of American Academy of Microbio

Dr Jiunn-Jong Wu, vice dean of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) College of Medicine, Taiwan, has been awarded Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology

Dr Jiunn-Jong Wu, vice dean of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) College of Medicine, Taiwan, has been awarded Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology

Singapore: Dr Jiunn-Jong Wu, vice dean of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) College of Medicine, Taiwan, has been awarded Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology in acknowledgement of his excellent achievements and contribution in medical microbiology for over 30 years.

Dr Wu received his PhD degree at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Pennsylvania Temple University, US, focusing on clinical microbiology, bacterial pathogenesis, bacterial resistance, epidemiology, nosocomial infection and others. Dr Wu has published more than 250 Science Citation Index (SCI) papers.

Awarding Dr Wu the Fellowship was an effort initiated by the Dean of School of Medicine at Temple University, US.

In Taiwan's medical field, former NCKU president Dr Michael Lai has also been given this award, while he was conducting research at the University of Southern California in 2002.

Dr Wu said, "I hope that winning this award will help raise the visibility of Taiwan in the international community, thus enabling them to understand Taiwan's research and contributions in the microbiology field. Being awarded this honor is the recognition for my lifelong contribution to academics. I hope that winning this award will help raise the visibility of Taiwan in the international community, thus enabling them to understand Taiwan's research and contributions in the microbiology field"
