Singapore: Saudi Arabia has notified the World Health Organization (WHO) of five new MERS cases and one death in the country. The Ministry of Health reported that all new cases were middle-aged men and none of them were healthcare workers.

The illness was detected in four different locations in Saudi Arabia. The WHO said that it was still unclear how these cases were affected though two of them had traveled to other parts of Saudi Arabia before they became ill.

According to a recent report by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, 842 cases of MERS have been reported since April 2012 with 322 deaths. The report said that around 25 cases were reported by Saudi Arabia alone in the month of June.
