Chongqing connectivity initiative’s first eldercare service collaboration

The MOU is a framework agreement which seeks to facilitate cooperation between the parties in the field of eldercare services, which include planning and design, operation management, medical care and nursing and educational training.

Singapore – ECON Healthcare Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau under the China – Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI), at the Future China Global Forum held at The Ritz Carlton, Millenia Singapore. The MOU is a framework agreement which seeks to facilitate cooperation between the parties in the field of eldercare services, which include planning and design, operation management, medical care and nursing and educational training.

ECON Healthcare Group is the first eldercare service provider under the CCI.  Mr Tang Liangzhi, Mayor, Chongqing Municipality, People’s Republic of China, and Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry, Singapore, delivered their opening remarks at the MOU signing ceremony. Under the MOU, ECON Healthcare Group will share its nursing experience, management methods, operational models and service standards with Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau with a view to enhancing the level of eldercare services in Chongqing, which has an ageing population of about seven million seniors above the age of 60. The Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau will also provide ECON Healthcare Group with support in facilitating cooperation and development of eldercare services in Chongqing.

There are four main areas of cooperation under the MOU: a) Training and workshops will be conducted by ECON Healthcare Group to improve the overall quality of people working in this sector in Chongqing. b) Cooperation projects which tap on ECON Healthcare Group’s wealth of experience and expertise in the eldercare and nursing industry, for the mutual benefit of the parties. c) ECON Healthcare Group will actively participate in and promote the development of the eldercare sector in Chongqing. d) ECON Healthcare Group will establish a cooperative relationship with Chongqing Children’s Love Manor, with a view to making the Chongqing Children’s Love Manor an international demonstration project and a training base for eldercare services. 4 “ECON Healthcare Group has always been supportive of the Singapore government and China’s Chongqing Connectivity Initiative. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is a key milestone for the Group,” said Mr Ong Chu Poh, Group Executive Chairman and CEO of ECON Healthcare Group. “Backed by ECON’s platform and network, the Group will be happy to work closely with Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau to build and grow the eldercare industry in Chongqing.”
